Over one weekend in Autumn 2018 and as part of the Made In Merton community group, I helped organise and run free print & banner making workshops for adults and children. The project culminated in a procession to the site of William Morris’s print factory in Merton Abbey Mills to raise awareness of the area’s rich cultural heritage. Funded by Mayor of London’s Culture Seeds, the project won the Picture Perfect category and was runner up in the Making History category at an awards ceremony that took place in City Hall, May 2019.
A 12 month project that ran from April 2017 to April 2018 and was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This multi-generational project brought together children with elderly residents living in our local community who had experienced evacuation out of London during World War II. Together we recorded their childhood stories and wartime memories. I worked as part of a team to provide the children with interview training, oversaw the sessions & created a 60 page book to showcase the project.
Between 2014 and 2016 I taught weekly drawing workshops for children between the ages of 9 and 14 which were funded by Merton Council and free for the children to attend. Projects included; book cover illustration, observational drawing, drawing from imagination, self-portraits, poster design and model making.
